Fund Shortlist Changes: Estimated Income Added

August 3rd, 2007

We have decided to make some extra changes to our Fund Shortlist, in order to improve the information we provide to you and hope they make the shortlist more relevant.

The biggest change is that we have decided to avoid using the headline ‘Income’ or ‘Growth’, with funds split between the two categories. This is because we feel many funds can be suitable for either purpose, for example while it is entirely correct to describe an Equity Income fund as the income option, we do not want growth investors thinking that it would not be right for them, indeed many investors could find such a fund would be a good starting point for their portfolio, whatever their aspirations.

So, we have removed the ‘Income’ and ‘Growth’ headings, replacing it with a column to show the level of income we estimate for each fund. Please bear in mind that these income levels are not fixed or guaranteed in anyway and will fluctuate, so please check individual fund fact sheets.

Additional changes to the Shortlist include taking more of a Strategic approach when it comes to bond funds outside of the Corporate Bond sector, to provide a more flexible approach for investors. We have also revamped the UK sector names, to give you new ideas and use some of the more interesting funds now available. On the ethical side we have split the funds between equity and bond and finally, we have also split the Property sector, so you now have funds which are either predominantly invested into Bricks & Mortar or predominantly invested into property related shares.

So there are a few changes to get used to, however we feel that these are improvements to help you in your research and look forward to receiving your feedback.
