We’ve got some important news for holders of the New Star UK Special Situations fund.
New Star Asset Management has announced that, after poorer performance of late, it will be merging its UK Special Situations fund with the more successful UK Alpha fund.
I feel this is a very positive move by New Star who have reacted swiftly and made significant alterations, which they believe will put the performance of your money back on track. I will continue to communicate with New Star and monitor developments there. But at this time I suggest that you consider holding out to give New Star’s new objectives at least 6 months to succeed.
However, if you remain concerned about changes to the UK Special Situations fund, I have compiled a list of alternatives for you to consider:
- Newton Income Fund
- Schroders UK Equity Fund
- Standard Life UK Equity Growth
I’m sure that you are all aware of the uncertainty facing world stock markets at the present time. It is in times like these that the importance of having a diversified portfolio is paramount. If you believe that you are particularly over-exposed to UK Equity funds or that you need exposure in other sectors and regions to help balance your portfolio, please take a look at our Top Funds Shortlist. These funds have been selected by our Investments Committee, headed by myself, and are amongst some of the best funds on the market.
